DB 620 UV/Vis [NIR] Spectrophotometer
The Olis DB 620 UV/Vis [NIR] Spectrophotometer is our small scanning dual beam absorbance spectrophotometer, optimized for microsecond kinetics and so stable and noise-free that it is ideal for lengthy thermal melts and equilibrium studies, too.

This modern digital optical bench provides high accuracy, high performance true dual beam data at rates to 500 ns with and without associated scanning. With one millisecond of collection time, 1000 data points are fitted to a straight line to return RMS noise at 250 nm of 0.0014 AU; with 1 second collection time, RMS noise lowers to 0.00016 AU. Scanning between these high speed fixed wavelength readings results in extremely low noise spectra.
Hardware includes the new DeSa subtractive double grating monochromator for selecting and scanning the wavelengths. This tiny 7-sided monochromator uses two huge 40 x 45 mm gratings for outstanding light throughput, even down to the lowest wavelengths. These holographically blazed gratings can be for ultraviolet, UV/Vis, visible, Vis-NIR, or NIR. All associated light sources and detectors will be selected by Olis to be compatible with this blazed grating range. The spectral resolution is 0.5-5 nm, based on the slit width used; slits are interchangeable fixed slits of 0.5, 0.6, 1.24, and 2 mm wide, with other sizes available by special request.

The default light source is 75 watt xenon arc lamp; an ozone producing 150 watt xenon arc can be substituted at slightly higher cost to achieve the lowest spectral limits (below around 180 nm). All electronics are designed by DeSa; all detection hardware is by Electronic Tubes and Olis. Electronics include two fast response photomultiplier amplifiers and twin 2 MHz 14 bit A/D converters for direct reading from two photomultiplier tubes. Olis Control Unit includes an OLIS verified and supported computer with the Intel 2.4 GHz Pentium microprocessor.
Fully XP Windows™ compatible Olis SpectralWorks software provides powerful, intelligently designed, and incredibly fast control of the apparatus as well as collection, display, analysis, and storage/ retrieval of kinetic fixed wavelength and/or spectral data. Exclusive implementation of Matheson's SVD, Downhill Simplex, and Matrix Exponentiation algorithms are provided for instantaneously fast and precise 2D and 3D data fitting. Data storage/ retrieval, including power import/export capabilities, is provided for dealing with Olis and non-Olis acquired data. All data processing routines are standard. Data storage as binary, ASCII, and Excel are standard. Customization of hardware and software is possible by Olis and owners.
