From Roberto Iglesias Prieto at UNAM, Cancun, we received in May, 1999 these kind words, "The spectrophotometer has been working perfectly ever since [modernization was done]. It is fair to say that I do share the opinion of my students and colleagues about your system, it is excellent!!! We have been using routinely the instrument in the scanning mode and it is performing flawlessly."

From Fred Guengerich at Vanderbilt, we received in February, 1999 this note he wrote to a friend, "I had a Cary 14 done by OLIS in 1990 or 1991, I forgot which. I have been very happy with it! We subsequently got an Aminco DW2 done by OLIS a couple of years later (the operating system is essentially the same). We have had very little trouble with the systems & whenever there is any kind of glitch, software or hardware, they will work through it on the phone very efficiently. Their people are knowledgeable & they will sit at an instrument & work through the problems with you. The software is very easy to use. It would work fine in a student lab, if that's an issue. The stuff they loaded on our system is fine, even after all these years. It's pretty fast on a 386 or 486. I use it myself & we have never had any trouble teaching anyone to use it. I recommend OLIS very much. The 14, with the update, is really a nice machine & we do all our UV work with this (the Aminco is used heavily in our lab for turbid things, e.g. bacteria)...My people have been happy. Natilie came from a lab where they had a new Varian & she said this is much better, at least much more trouble-free... Dick DeSa has been very good to work with. He has his whole family involved in the business. I usually drop by to see them at meetings when they show...I am very enthusiastic about OLIS."

During a December, 1996 telephone conversation, Matt Morra at the University of Idaho said "the software is very, very effective & great," and continued with, "this spectrophotometer is better than anything chemistry has...Master's students learn how to use it in 20 minutes."

From Roberto Bogolomoni of UC Santa Cruz, I received this note in March, 1999, after I mentioned to him that a colleague had called for a price quotation, "As expected we are delighted with the Olis DW2 upgrade. I will call Wayne. He is a close friend of mine. I have used many times his Aminco. It is the next generation from my unit. It was already manufactured by SLM. He should modify it too. Best regard to the entire DeSa family."
